Breast Asymmetry Beverly Hills & Los Angeles

Breast size asymmetry is when a woman’s breasts are different in sizes and is defined as a difference of form, position, or volume of the breast and it affects more than half of all women. Typically, the asymmetry is more noticeable during puberty and eventually breast size evens out during development. Any discussion of the size or shape of a woman’s breasts requires some rudimentary understanding of the anatomy of the breast itself during breast asymmetry correction Beverly Hills. Symmetry is the goal, but perfect asymmetry is unrealistic. A thorough consultation will be given when meeting in person with Dr. Kapoor and Dr. Schlenker at their Beverly Hills office to discuss about the procedures needed in order to fully correct and balance the breasts. Types Of Breasts Asymmetry Correction In Beverly Hills

Breast Asymmetry correction Beverly Hills

Size asymmetry

Depending on how severely asymmetric the size of the breasts are, the size difference and the patients goals will determine the best asymmetric procedure for the patient. For patients with breast size that are asymmetric who also have ptosis (drooping) and want the ptosis corrected, performing a breast reduction on the larger side will reduce and lift the breast. The opposite breast can be simply lifted if uneven. Patients with breast size asymmetry who wishes to increase their breast size will need Dr. Kapoor and Dr. Schlenker’s breast implant procedure combined. If breast size asymmetry is small to moderate then using different size implants will be enough to achieve better symmetry.

Nipple Position Asymmetry

For some of our Beverly Hills patients, concerns are not the size of their breasts but the nipple positioning on the breasts. Some patients have similar breasts but with one nipple being higher or lower than the other. The difference in nipple positions varies by more than 1 cm. Dr. Kapoor and Dr. Schlenker’s breast lift procedure can be performed on the lower side to match. If the difference is only 1 cm, a Cresent Lift can be performed. If there is a 2 – 3 cm difference between the nipples, a Circumareolar or Binelli Lift is performed. If the difference in nipple positions is even greater, then a Mastopexy or Breast Lift will need to be performed using incisions that are no longer limited to around the areola.

Areola Asymmetry

Some of our Beverly Hills patients that visit our office for their initial consultation have differences in areola shapes and sizes ranging from significantly small or significantly large, rounded or elongated, depending on the individuals. Areola asymmetry correction can be performed as a combination procedure along with breast asymmetry correction. General anesthesia is used if done in combination with other breast procedures done to contour the breasts shape and sizes. Dr. Kapoor and Dr. Schlenker will establish a specific plan for each of their Beverly Hills patients based on their breast asymmetry and their goals. What Is Breast Asymmetry Correction?

Overly Large Breasts Size

Breast asymmetry or some may it call “uneven breasts” can be as dramatic as up to two or three cup sizes in difference and will need breast asymmetry correction. There is also a difference in the shape of the breasts and varying degrees of droops along with dissatisfied nipple position. The correction of asymmetric breasts, in some situations need an additional silicone or saline breast implants added as a combination procedure.

Most of the time that is not the case because that is not enough to achieve the fuller and more balanced looking breasts that some desires. A patient may need a full breast lift on one side and a mini peri-areolar lift on the other. There may also be multiple variations depending on the patient’s individual’s presentation and goals.

What The Recovery Period Is Like For Breast Asymmetry Correction?

You can expect your new breast to feel bruised, sore and tender for the first 48 hours after your breast asymmetry correction however that is completely normal. Drink plenty of fluids and be sure to follow your prescribed medication scheduled. Allow your new breasts enough time to recover. That means no vigorous activities or strenuous exercise for up to six weeks after your breast asymmetry correction. Allow for about two months for recovery after breast asymmetry correction. The usual follow ups after breast asymmetry correction are after one week, one month, three and/or six months, and thereafter at annual exams.
