Nipple & Aerola Reduction Beverly Hills

For some patients the concern is more than just their breast sizes and shapes, they also have concerns regarding their nipple and/or areola. Most often following a breast augmentation, a breast lift ,or a breast reduction, nipple areola reduction and inverted nipple repair are usually combined as an additional procedure. Patients often use the term nipple and areola together because some patients are looking for both an areola reduction as well as a nipple reduction. When performed by Dr. Kapoor and Dr. Schlenker as a combination procedure with breast augmentation, our Beverly Hills patients are happy to hear there is a procedure to enhance the nipple/areola. Whether the nipple is inverted, too big or protruding too far, Dr. Kapoor and Dr. Schlenker can assist you with the correction. Results of your areola reduction are often permanent and can last a lifetime.

Recovery Tips

Clothing Options

Loose clothing is to be worn to give your new breasts the room it needs to heal. You should wear the special bra placed over your breasts at all times for the first few days. A softer sports bra should be worn at all times for the first 2 weeks after your areola reduction procedure. The bra should be worn even while sleeping to help hold your breasts in the correct position. You may remove the bra to shower or bathe but must immediately put it back on after drying off. When your breasts are fully recovered, your breasts including your nipple and areola will have that contoured and natural feel and look that you desired.

Daily Activities

The general guidelines for resuming your normal routine after your nipple areola reduction procedure are best judged by your body so listen to your body if it is telling you to slow down during strenuous activities. You will most likely return to work or school within a day following your nipple areola reduction. Driving can be within a day or two post-operation. Do not go without a bra for at least 6 weeks after your nipple areola reduction procedure. Remember that everyone heals at different rates so take your activities slowly until you feel that your bod is ready and up to par.

Fading Of Scars

Even though scars will be very minimal, the scars on your breasts should be protected from sunlight for at least a year after your areola reduction procedure. The fading of the scars will differ for each patient as they heal. Some scars fades within several months and others fade within the same year. However, the risk of having scars will be greatly reduced by closely following the instructions provided to you by plastic surgeons plastic surgeons Dr. Kapoor and Dr. Schlenker. Our board certified cosmetic plastic surgeons in Beverly Hills has both the ability and knowledge to reduce your scarring to a minimum.

    Nipple & Areola Reduction Overview

    What is nipple areola reduction?

The nipple is the projected part and the areola is the dark pigmented skin that surrounds the nipple. Nipple areola reduction is when the size of the nipples and areolas are reduced to add symmetry and balance to the breasts. The areola and nipple area can be made smaller and more attractive without compromise to the sensitivity of the breast. Nipple areola reductions are not limited to only females; it is also quite common in male models. Many of our Beverly Hills patients are men requesting for nipple areola reduction in combination with gynocomastia or male breast reduction to create a sculpted and handsome chest

What are the techniques involving areola reduction?

Dr. Kapoor and Dr. Schlenker’s areola reduction techniques involve creating a small incision to reduce nipple size in order to define the new perimeter of the nipple areola region of the breasts. Areola reduction is similar as an incision is made around the areola to remove tissue and reduce large or even areolas. Similarly, nipple asymmetry can be corrected as well. Once the incision is complete, excess tissue is removed from the area and stitches are used to close the incision. You will then have gauze dressings placed over your newly contoured breasts.

What is the estimated cost of nipple areola reduction?

Depending on the scale of what is needed to reduce the nipples or areola and types of anesthesia, the cost can vary from as low as $1,500 to $3,000. In order to give an accurate quote for nipple areola reduction, it is best to schedule a consultation that will allow Dr. Kapoor and Dr. Schlenker to appropriately judge what is involved and what is needed for your desired results. Photographs can be email or sent to our Beverly Hills office follow by a phone consultation for patients who lives outside of the United States who wishes to get work done by our board certified cosmetic plastic surgeons in Beverly Hills.

Who are the best candidates for nipple areola reduction?

Best candidates for nipple areola reduction are those that are in generally good health and are highly motivated to make the changes possible because they want more attractive looking nipples and areolas. In addition to being over the age of 18, you must have a clear understanding of the limitations and potential results of your nipple or areola reduction. Most importantly, best candidates for nipple areola reduction are patients who have the ability to pause your daily responsibilities such as work, school, and family responsibilities in order to undergo a nipple areola reduction operation.

What can you expect immediately after areola reduction?

During the first 24 to 48 hours following your areola procedure, you may feel tired and sore from the anesthesia. You will be prescribed pain medication to alleviate most of the discomfort you might feel which will immediately improve rapidly after the first 2 days. Your stitches will be removed within 5 to 7 days post – areola reduction operation. Sleeping on your back for the first week after areola reduction procedure is most important to help with the healing process. You will notice a marked improvement in your discomfort level during the first few weeks after your nipple areola procedure. You may experience some tingling in the nipple-areola complex however; this is a common result of the healing process and usually resolves by 6 weeks. We offer the best plastic surgery Beverly Hills has available, trust us with your procedure.
